Greetings from your Booster Club Officers!
So what does the Booster Club mean to our Colleyville Heritage Choir Program?
In simple terms it provides all the "over and above" programs that jump start
our choir programs to the next level of excellence. Picture the Seniors each
year who receive a scholarship or picture the Special Music Clinics that the
Booster club funds to expose the Choirs to various music techniques.
Each year there are a couple of questions always raised:
"I paid my $50 at registration. Why should I pay $35 for the Choir
Fee?"
An excellent question in today's economic times but the simple raw answer is
Robin Hood. The choral department receives no direct benefit from the $50
registration fee as that supplements the overall operating budget to all of the
school. Each department receives a budget from the school that may or may
not cover all of its operating costs (such as sheet music, bus transportation,
competition fees and other like expenses). The $35 helps to cover the
cleaning cost of each uniform that is issued, the uniforms maintenance/repair
each year, the music binder, and the choir t-shirt (required for out-of-school
performances) and a small hospitality fee for events such as the Summer Pool
Party, Halloween Party, Buddy Night and the like.
"Why should I become a Choir Booster?
The Choir Booster organization is a vital element to the success of the choir program at
Colleyville Heritage. The Booster Club purchases the "Nice to Have's" that the
district does not purchase---we recently bought a new video camera, and
substantially helped purchase the new risers. We are now fund raising for
a new sound system for the choir room. Finally, our major goal is to keep
the program fun and the students motivated to keep singing. We do this by
supporting the various social functions throughout the year. Please consider
supporting your Choir Booster club and helping make this 2008-2009 choir season
the best ever for our student musicians!!!
The success of our choirs is highly dependent on dedicated and active choir
booster parents. Please join our the Colleyville Heritage Choir Booster organization and help
support your student’s music education. Further, consider the many
volunteer opportunities that the Booster Club has as a way to interact with your
teenager. It has been said that while you may not be "cool" to your
teenager, you undoubtedly will be "cool" to another. If nothing else, it
will give you another conversational point at the dinner table. Test the theory
and become involved today!
