Allison Blonder
Allison Blonder was an active member of the CHHS Choir Department for all four years of high school, starting in Varsity Treble Choir her freshman year and moving to Chorale & Select Women the following three years. She was also a member of the Ovation! Jazz Choir her junior and senior years, serving as historian in her junior year. During her senior year, Allison was head historian of Chorale. She also participated in three of the school's musicals: "Little Shop of Horrors," "Oklahoma!" and "Bye Bye Birdie." Allison is now attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in Music Education and singing in the Concert Choir. She recently performed in the UTSA Lyric Theater production of La Boheme and co-founded the glee club, A Choired Taste.
After 12 years, former CHHS Choir Director Danny Detrick left Colleyville Heritage at the end of the 2007-08 school year to pursue a new directing opportunity at Birdville High School. In April 2009, BISD appointed Mr. Detrick to the position of District Fine Arts Director. He can be reached via email by clicking on his name above.
Erin (Fitch) Humiston graduated from CHHS in 2003 after four terrific years in the choir program under the tutelage of Danny Detrick. Some of Erin's fondest memories include performing in Ovation! Jazz Choir, singing with Chorale at the Texas Music Educators Association in San Antonio, and touring Austria in 2000. Some of Erin's best friends to date were made while in choir. In college, Erin served her church, singing and playing piano during worship. She graduated magna cum laude in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She also interned with CNN's "The Situation Room" in Washington D.C., covering the 2006 mid-term elections. In December 2007, Erin married Scott Humiston, a 2001 CHHS graduate and former Panther Band trumpet player. Alex "Francis" Headrick was a member of CHHS choirs all four years, including one in Ovation! Jazz and three in Chorale. She also participated in the Texas All-State competitions, winning 4th chair her Sophomore year, 1st chair her Junior year and 3rd chair her Senior year. She has fond memories of choir and still keeps up with most of the friends she met through the program. Alex went on to study for one year at the Boston Conservatory of Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance before learning that she had severe vocal nodules. She is now studying Nursing at Texas Woman's University, working towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner. In 2005, Alex married her college sweetheart and has been living in the DFW Mid-Cities area ever since. Bailey is a 2008 graduate and is now attending UNT studying Music Education. He is also a member of the Vocal Majority, a member of the UNT Concert Choir and is a founding member of the Green Tones, an A Cappella contemporary performance choir. Madison was a dedicated four-year CHHS Panther Choir member until she graduated in 2009. She participated in a variety of CHHS choirs, including a three years in Ovation! Jazz, serving as its Vice President during her Junior year and as President in her Senior year. Madison also enjoyed being a cast member in CHHS productions of Bye, Bye, Birdie and Anything Goes! In addition, she participated in NAT's under the guidance of her voice coach, Pam Cochrane, as a Sophomore and Junior, and was a Classical Finalist in 2007. She won the CHHS Directors Female Choice Award twice, once as a Sophomore and again as a Junior. Wanting to follow in the footsteps of her mentors, Danny Detrick and Laura Roberts, Madison is now studying Music Education under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Fulton at Louisiana State University. Katie (Lynch) Maricle was a 3-year member of CHHS Choir, from 2003 to 2005. She was a member of Varsity Treble, Concert Choir, Panther Chorale, and was also a member of Ovation! for two years. She also spent much of her time in the Theatre program, acting in “Bells Are Ringing,” “Annie,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Zombie Prom.” After attending the University of North Texas and Tarrant County College, Katie enlisted in the US Air Force, and began her military career in 2008. She currently works as a combat broadcaster with the 1st Combat Camera Squadron at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. Katie has traveled as a journalist on military assignment to North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio, Virginia, California, and recently completed a six-month deployment to Africa, where she reported for the American Forces Network in Djibouti, Uganda, and the Seychelles Islands. Laura Jenkins Roberts
Laura Roberts was Assistant CHHS Panther Choir Director in 2008-09. After that first year, she was recognized by Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD with an invitation to serve as Head Choral Director in the district's Fine Arts program. Angie Rosenblatt was a devoted member of the CHHS choir department for all four years of high school. During her time in choir, she served as Uniform Officer for Ovation! Jazz Choir, Vice President of Ovation! Jazz Choir, and Vice President of Panther Chorale. As a member of the internationally famous Texas Girls' Choir, Angie traveled to California, Florida, Washington, D.C., Hawaii, London, and South Africa. Since graduating from CHHS in 2008, Angie has attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she sings in the Concert Choir and Women's Chorus. David Smith
David was a member of Men’s Chorus and JV Choir for the first two years, and Chorale and Ovation for the last two. While in choir, he served as Librarian for JV choir and President of Ovation! Jazz Choir. His favorite choir memories include singing "Sing Me to Heaven" in the Dom Chathedral during the tour of Austria, singing at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio during his senior year, and making so many wonderful friends, especially in Jazz Choir and Chorale. Most of all, he is grateful to Mr. Detrick for everything he taught, for being a mentor and friend, and for truly believing in him. Since graduating from CHHS in 2003, David has graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Music with an emphasis in Media Music Studies. He now writes and records music professionally for film and theater. On the side, he teaches voice for the Hale Center Theater and teaches musical theater workshops for the Arts City Council, all while following his passion of performing on the stage. Shelley was a member of the Panther Choir for four years before graduating in 2007. She was a member of Jazz choir during her senior year, as well as one of the Chorale Historians. Shelley was also a member of the Texas Girls Choir for eight years, which gave her the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally. Shelley is currently studying Music Education at Texas Woman's University in Denton. At TWU, she sings in both TWU choirs, The Concert Women's Choir and the Chamber Mixed Choir. After graduating, Shelley plans to teach high school choir and possibly attend graduate school so she can teach at the College level. You can email Shelley by clicking on her name.
Chris Wheelock
Chris Wheelock graduated Colleyville Heritage High School in 2008. He now attends Texas A&M University - Commerce as a Vocal Music Education Major. He has performed in many ensembles there including the Varsity Chorale, and the Chamber Singers (both under the direction of Dr. Randal Hooper). He served the choir as the Equipment and Set-up Officer for the 2010-2011 season. He performed the Tenor solo in the Blue Bonnet Choir's performance of Mozart's Missa Solemnis in D Major under the direction of Dr. Christopher White. In the studios of Dee Ann Gorham, Roger Bryant, and Travis McGuire, Chris has studied voice. Under their instruction he has performed in a joint recital with fellow vocalist Caitlin Cundiff. Chris is also an active member of Phi Mu Alpha: Sinfonia, having served as Alumni Relations Officer, Historian, and Webmaster. Outside of school, he sings in the First Presbyterian Church of Commerce Choir and the First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine Choir. He greatly looks forward to graduating and teaching music in the high school choir classroom.
