Monica Boldt

Mezzo-soprano Monica Boldt was seen most recently as an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera during the 2009 festival season. She performed Elizabeth Proctor in "The Crucible," and helped workshop the role of Margarite in "The Widow’s Lantern" by James Ott.  In spring 2009, she participated in Nashville Opera’s Mary Ragland Young Artist Program, where she sang the roles of 2nd Lady and Papagena in The Magic Flute.  

Monica obtained her graduate degree in vocal performance from the University of North Texas, where she performed in "Die Fledermaus," "Romèo et Juliette," and " A Midsummer Night’s Dream."  Miss Boldt completed her Bachelor of Music at Texas Christian University in 2005. While at TCU, she performed in the university's Opera Studio in "Così fan tutte" and "Asia in Agua, Azucarillos, y Aguardiente." 

 In 2006, she attended Opera in the Ozarks where she performed in "Il barbiere di Siviglia," "La traviata," and "Suor Angelica."  The following year, Miss Boldt sang with Colorado Vocal Arts Symposium under the direction of Martile Rowland.  She was also a member with the Fort Worth Opera Chorus in the 2005 to 2007 seasons and a semi-finalist in the 2007 Dallas Opera Guild Competition.  In 2008, Miss Boldt received the John Thomas Women’s Award granted by the Texas Women’s Chorus of Dallas. Her other performances have included alto soloist in Handel’s "Messiah" with The First United Methodist Church of Frisco, recitalist for the Mu Phi Epsilon Sunday Concert Series in Dallas, and featured vocalist with Mambo Machine, a Latin jazz ensemble based in the DFW metroplex.
