Panther Choir Update 4/24/16


Dear Parents and Students:

Thank you to all of the students and parents who assisted in making our Car Wash a success this weekend. The Panther Booster Club provides an immense amount of monetary support to our program which is only possible through events like this! We appreciate all that were involved!

End of Year Vocal Assessments / Auditions

This week we will begin our end of your vocal assessments for all students. This assessment will be a graded evaluation of the student’s progress for the year and serve as the placement audition for the 2016-2017 choirs for those that are continuing in our program. Detailed information concerning this assignment and placement in choirs next year can be found on our website HERE. Part of the assignment is done on student’s individual time and submitted via google classroom. The sight-reading portion of the assignment will begin in class this week. There are practice examples on the website to help you prepare.

If you plan to audition for one of our Jazz Choirs next year - this information and a online sign-up for audition times is also on the audition page.

Scheduling for Next Year

Many of students and parents have contacted us concerning problems with Arena scheduling and choir placement for next year. As we are doing auditions this week, we cannot give you exact information on your schedule. We can assure you that we are working with counselors to get every student in the appropriate class after auditions. If you are building your schedule and the system will allow you to, we suggest that you choose the choir that you expect to be in next year. For the majority of students you can self assess correctly for placement. If it is wrong, we will be able to fix it. The counselors have also indicated to me that you can leave the period blank if it will not allow you to register for the correct choir and we can fix it for you. Jazz Show This Week

Our Jazz Choirs present their annual show “SING!” this Friday in the auditorium at 7pm. Tickets are $5 in advance $8 at the door and can be purchased from any Jazz student or in the choir office.

Festival Di Voce at Dallas Baptist University- Chorale Only

Chorale will compete in the annual Festival Di Voce at Dallas Baptist University on Tuesday Evening. Please bring your formal uniforms to school on Tuesday. We will change and leave for our performance after Chorale (you will miss 4th period). If you need to be picked up at DBU please email a parent note to Mr. Rinn - we will be done with our performance at 4:30pm. Remember we will go to Chili's for dinner (we pre-ordered on Friday, you will pay there) and then return to DBU for the Concert and awards. We estimate return time to CHHS after 9pm.

Spring in the Park Festival

We are once again hosting the Spring in the Park Music Festival on our campus (two weekends starting this Friday and Saturday) this year. This is a significant fundraiser for our booster club. We need student workers to facilitate this. If you can assist us, please sign up via the link below.

Tuesday - Chorale to DBU; Leave at 2:30pm, return 9pm

Wednesday: Jazz Rehearsal 4-7pm

Thursday: Jazz Rehearsal 5-9pm

Friday: Spring in the Park Music Festival (daytime)

Jazz Show 7pm
