I hope that each of your are enjoying a wonderful summer vacation. We have been busy getting things prepared for an exciting school year to come and need to share several pieces of information with you concerning the upcoming year. Please note those that require action if you'd like to participate in upcoming summer activities.
Panther Chorale Selected for both State and National Honors
The Panther Chorale has been chosen through a recorded audition for two of the most prestigious honors awarded high school choral ensembles. The selection for either of these honors is equivalent to a state / divisional championship in our field. We were thrilled to announce our selection as an invited performing choir for the Texas Music Educator's Association Convention in May and then were notified in mid-June that through a different selection process we were chosen as a performing choir for the Southwest Division of the American Choral Director's Association. The Panther Chorale will perform February 14-16 (specific date to be announced) in San Antonio, TX and on March 9 at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City. This will be an exciting year as we celebrate these honors and prepare for the prestigious performances.
The Panther Choir is receiving all new uniforms for the upcoming school year (Concert Dresses, Tuxedos, and Jazz Choir Dresses and Suits - the photos are are actual new uniforms, though the color on the jazz dress and the shirt/tie on the jazz suit are not correct). As the uniforms will be brand new they will all require professional hemming after our fittings. For Chorale it is crucial that we have uniforms fitted and altered quickly as we must take professional photographs for promotional articles in the state and national magazines for our convention performances (these photos are due by early September). For all others, the uniforms must be fitted and hemmed before our Fall Concert on October 3. Because of this crucial deadline for Chorale we will be doing summer fittings for Chorale Students on August 8 (afternoon and evening) and August 11 (morning). We realize that there will be some families that are out of town and unable to attend these fittings but need to get as many fitted as possible so that hemming can be taken care of in time for photos. To reduce congestion on these days and help our planning we ask that you chooses a 15-minute window of time for your fitting via this SIGN-UP GENIUS. We will send reminders out before the event. Fittings for all other choirs will be on Tuesday, August 29 (evening - more details to come).
GCISD Summer All-State Workshop
In an effort to help our student prepare for engagement in the Texas All-State Process we will again offer a district wide workshop free to our students. Please remember - Members of the Panther Chorale are REQUIRED to learn the first round of audition music and sing it for test grades during the first grading period as part of their curricular grade in Chorale. This workshop is a way to be certain students are prepared for this test in the early weeks of school. We strongly encourage Chorale Members to attend if able. The workshop is open to any student enrolled in high school choir in GCISD and we invite and hope many of you will attend. This year's workshop will be at Grapevine High School on August 1 and August 2 from 6:00-9:30pm. Please complete THIS GOOGLE FORM to reserve your place. Summer Main Event Social
On Wednesday, August 2 following the GCISD All-State Workshop we will have a CHHS Choir Social at the Main Event in Grapevine from 9:30pm-12:00am. This event is open to any student in the CHHS Choir Program. If you would like to attend please reserve your place HERE. We need a firm reservation number for this event by July 26. Cost is $21 per person and includes laser tag, billiards, bowling, a $10 arcade card, pizzas and a drink. Once registered we will bill you via CHARMS and you may pay in advance via credit/debit card or on arrival in CASH. Please note that we are responsible for paying for everyone we register. Anyone dropping after July 26 will still be charged the $21 fee as we will still owe it to Main Event.
Spring Trip 2018
The Panther Choirs will travel to Washington, DC April 27-30, 2018. The estimated cost of the trip is $964. Sign up is available now through our trip company, US Integrity Tours. There will be an opportunity to add to the trip with a condensed payment schedule starting September 15 if space allows. We are excited to perform at Washington National Cathedral, the Armed Forces Retirement Home and visit many historic sites during our visit (our congressional office is currently working to get us access to the White House). Space will be limited on this trip. Please plan ahead for registration and deposits.

Dates for Next Year
We have been busy getting the calendar set for next year. You can see all confirmed events on our google calendar on our calendar page HERE. There are still a few things to work out, but for those of you that like to plan far ahead the major events are there. A few things to note that come up early.
