It has been a terrific first week back in the CHHS Panther Choir Program. We were honored to welcome the world renowned conductor and composer Z. Randall Stroope into our classroom on Thursday when he worked with Panther Chorale in their preparation for the upcoming TMEA and SWACDA Performances. Please make note of the upcoming events below..


WINTER CONCERT RECORDINGS

Concert Recordings have arrived! If you ordered and have not made a payment, please make checks payable to "North Dallas Video" or pay via the PayPal Link HERE. If you did not have a chance to order and would still like to, please fill out THIS form.

CHORALE PARENT REMINDERS

The deadline to order TMEA recordings has been extended, please reference the Chorale Parent Information page for updates about travel and/or to order a TMEA recording.

THE ONLINE LINK FOR BOOKING A HOTEL FOR THE TMEA PERFORMANCE IS NOW ACTIVE BUT IS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH MONDAY, JANUARY 15. Please give this attention this weekend if you wish to book a room. If you wish to travel separately and stay in our hotel at a discounted rate you will find information there.

Chorale Clinic with Derrick Brookins

Thursday, January 18, 3rd Period

We are thrilled to welcome Derrick Brookins, TMEA Vocal Chair, to our campus on Thursday to work with Chorale on our music we are preparing for the convention performances.


Derrick Brookins has professionally served students and parents in Texas choral music education since 1996. He currently serves on the faculty of Plano Senior HS as the Director of Choral Activities. A native of Fort Worth, Brookins has completed, with honors, both undergraduate and some graduate work at the University of North Texas earning a bachelor’s of music education and a masters of secondary education/administration from Concordia University.

For 13 years, Brookins studied under and performed with world-renowned choral musician Moses Hogan. As a choral music performer, Brookins has performed on four continents and for several European royal families, and two U.S. Presidents. He is a highly sought after choral clinician and adjudicator throughout the U.S. Choirs under Mr. Brookins’ direction consistently receive Sweepstakes at UIL contest, have been named “Best in Class” at several choral festivals throughout the U.S., and have been invited to perform at several state and national conferences. Mr. Brookins has been recognized as Teacher of the Year at Williams HS (2000) and Plano Senior HS (2008.) He was also named as a finalist for Plano ISD Teacher of the Year, and has received the district’s Excellence in Teaching Award (2008).

Mr. Brookins has served as Regional and Area Vocal Chair and as the organizer for a Texas All-State Choir. Brookins currently holds professional membership with TMEA, TCDA, ACDA, TMAA, the American Choristers Guild and has served as Division Chair of Multicultural/Ethnic Choral Music for Southwest American Choral Directors Association.
