This week our Chorale, Concert Women, and Choraliers participated in the Region 31 UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition at Trinity High School. We are proud to announce that all of our choirs received unanimous ratings of superior (1) from all 6 judges earning us three UIL Sweepstakes Awards. We are proud to continue the tradition of excellence established by the CHHS Panther Choirs and look forward to sharing our award wining programs with you at our Spring Concert in a few weeks.

CHHS CLASSICAL VOCAL COMPETITION


We are excited to announce a new approach to our annual solo competition. As part of our final classwork and in our effort to build confidence in solo singing this year every student is choosing a solo to work on as part of the class curriculum. Students that would like to engage in further competition are encouraged to enter our vocal contest. Benefits of engaging in the competition include monetary prizes, evaluation by professional and collegiate level vocal specialist, and private coaching with a professional accompanist. (Prize money is a Choir Awards which can be used by seniors as college scholarships or by underclassman for any choir related expense including summer camps, voice lessons, trips, etc). Finalist will be chosen from each choir class during the preliminary competition on May 22 to advance to the Finals Recital on May 24 which will be held in the choir room and open to all spectators. Prizes will be awarded a the Finals Recital. Details concerning solos and contest registration will be distributed in classes during upcoming week.

The May 3 Show at CHHS will feature Jazz Choirs from Colleyville MS and Heritage MS, the CHHS Jazz Choirs, and our professional jazz musicians. Tickets are $5 in advance or $8 at the door.

The May 5 Show at the beautiful Lancaster Theatre features a full catered dinner. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets for this show will sell out quickly, please purchase early.

BIG "D" CLASSIC FESTIVAL INFORMATION

FRIDAY, APRIL 13th 2018


7:15am Students arrive dressed for warm-up

(I know it’s early! Please make arrangements now!)

8am depart CHHS

9:40 performance at Irving Arts Center

11:30-2:30 lunch/team building at Klyde Warren Park/Dallas Art Museum

3:15 Arrive at CHHS

Things to know:

-Please arrive at school in full uniform with hair and make-up done.

-Weather permitting, you will have time to get lunch/snacks from food trucks at Klyde Warren Park so please bring money for that (be aware that the food trucks can be more expensive than regular fast food).

-You will have a chance to change clothes after your performance, please bring school and weather appropriate clothing to be outside.

-We will do a photo scavenger hunt, if you are competitive, this may involve moving quickly so think about this when choosing what footwear you bring

Parents are welcome to watch the performance (9:40am, Irving Arts Center - this could be a little earlier if contest is running ahead).

We are in need of one parent chaperone who could join us for the day. Please let me know if you will be available.

CHORALIERS TO COMPETE AT THE BIG "D" CLASSIC

On Friday, April 20 the Choraliers will travel to Fort Worth to sing at the Truett Auditorium at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in competition for the American Classics Big "D" Choral Competition. Students will be excused from 5th-8th period for this event.

After our performance for the competition we will spend the afternoon at Alley Cats in North Richland Hills where students can enjoy Putt-Putt golf, Go Carts, Arcades, and Pizza. To cover the cost of the recreational activities members of Choraliers are being asked to contribute $20. This fee may be paid via check or cash to the Panther Choir Boosters or paid online via PayPal (a link will be sent out next week). We want all students to be able to participate in this event. Please contact Mr. Rinn should there be any financial assistance needed.

2019 TOUR TO BUDAPEST, VIENNA, & SALZBURG

The Panther Choir has a tradition of touring internationally every three years and we are excited to announce the approval of our 2019 Tour, March 6-15, 2019. This tour will be open to all 10-12th graders enrolled in choir during the 2018-2019 school year, however the total number of participants will be limited. . At a cost of $2950 (inclusive of airfare, tours, 2-meals per day and many other details) this 10-day tour will provide incredible cultural and musical experiences to our students. Please see the PROPOSED ITINERARY including Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg for more details. A contract and sign-up will be posted shortly with a $250 deposit due in May.

WASHINGTON, D.C. TRIP

If you were unable to attend the Washington, DC trip meeting, the meeting is now available for you to view online HERE. A digital copy of the trip packet is available HERE and your student will be given the hard copy of this packet in class. Please return at your earliest convenience:

Please use the Absence Request Form to note any missed rehearsals. Remember you may be removed from performing with the Chamber Choir for missing more than 2 rehearsals for ANY reason.
