Panther Choir Update 3/5/17

Last week was quite busy and eventful. Our Chamber Singers sang on Sunday Evening with the Acappella Choir from Louisiana State University and then traveled to San Antonio this weekend where they were recognized as one of top performing ensembles with both a superior division rating and the prestigious "Performance of Distinction" recognition at the American Classics Chamber and Madrigal Choir Competition. Following our performance the singers had the opportunity to work with Dr. Jonothan Reed, Director of Choirs at Michigan State University who was blown away by the students dedication, musicianship, and positive spirit stating over and over again as he tried to use his "Texan" "Y'all are just awesome!" Monday evening our All-State Singers were recognized at the GCISD School Board Meeting. Tuesday evening members of our Jazz Choir collaborated with members of the Grapevine HS Jazz Choir to Perform at the GCISD Soaring Valor Event. We are extremely proud of our students, their superb musicianship, and their positive spirits as they have been out in the community and collaborating with other musicians.

We are hosting Region 31 MS UIL Competition on campus Monday and Tuesday. Thank you to the many people who are volunteering to help make this a positive experience for students. You should have all received detailed instructions from Mrs. Massey concerning this.

In case you missed it, the school board approved the instructional calendar for the 2017-2018 school year. The calendar can be viewed on our district website HERE.
