Panther Choir Update 5/13/17

We enjoyed a wonderful Choir Banquet last night honoring our students and their achievements during the school year. A special thank you to Kathryn Phillips, banquet coordinator and the many other parents who volunteered their time to make this a special event for our students.

Solo & Ensemble Competition

Our annual solo & ensemble competition is this Monday at CHHS. The student schedule is available HERE. Please arrive early for your assigned time. Some ensembles have chosen to wear choir shirts with jeans or khakis (no shorts), otherwise dress should be appropriate for a solo presentation. Professional dress (no shorts, athletic wear, etc) is expected for this event.

Auditions and Choir Placement

If you have not turned in your Voice Evaluation (it was due Friday) please do so at your earliest convenience. We will be working hard this week to complete the scoring, visit with counselors, and announce choirs for next year. If you are struggling with the technology aspect of submitting this audition please see Mr. Rinn and Mrs. Massey as we are happy to help. Details concerning the audition are available HERE. The assignment should be uploaded to your google classroom.

Jazz Choir Auditions

We had a huge interest in Jazz Choir for next year and ran out of available audition times. We want to hear everyone that is interested so we have added an additional day of auditions this Wednesday, May 17 after school. If you were unable to audition last week, please SIGN UP FOR A TIME SPOT. For this audition we need you to plan to use a recorded accompaniment.

Jazz Show

Our annual Jazz Show SING! will be on Tuesday, May 23 at CHHS and Thursday, May 25 at the Lancaster Theatre. Please remember to purchase your dinner show tickets for the Lancaster no later than this Wendesday, May 17 so that we may turn in a final number to our caterer. Online tickets are available HERE.

2017-2018 All-State Choir Auditions

The Panther Choir has a rich tradition of students advancing to the All-State Level in choir. In recent years CHHS has been one of the top represented school in Texas at the state level with seven All-State Students in 2016 and five in 2017. The start of this process for many of our students begins with an All-State Summer Camp Experience. More important than the state achievement is the personal and musical growth that accompanies this process. Participating in the process makes our students stronger both individually and as a team. If you'd like to reserve your copies of the All-State Music before the summer please complete the information HERE. (Complete packets are $20). If you need more information about the process or summer camp see our INFORMATION PAGE.

2017-2018 Choir Leadership

Congratulations to our newly elected 2017-2018 Choir Council. Our student leadership team is key to our success in the choir program. We will be adding to this team in the coming weeks as we make our plans for next year. Please continue to consider how you might provide leadership in our program and stay tuned for more leadership opportunities.
