Panther Choir Newsletter 12/1/17

We hope that each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break filled with celebrations of gratitude and a bit of relaxation as we enter the very busy month of December. Please look over the details below concerning upcoming events in the CHHS Panther Choir Program.

Tickets for the annual Bella Notte Dinner are now on sale and need to be reserved by Friday, December 8. You may eat anytime between 5:30-7:00pm. Student's concert preparation schedule will allow them time to attend the dinner if desired.

Please bring copies of your sheet music to Mr. Rinn by Wednesday, December 6th and be prepared to rehearse with Mr. Rinn and Ms. Barkey after school on Thursday, December 7th.

WINTER CONCERT REQUIRED TECH REHEARSAL ALL-STUDENTS

In preparation for our Winter Concert all students are required to attend an after-school tech rehearsal to rehearse concert elements that cannot be taken care of in each individual class. This rehearsal was included as one of the required dates on the choir calendar distributed at the start of the school year and is a required grade for ALL CHOIRS. Students not attending the rehearsal will receive a zero for the grade and may be removed from elements of the concert which they will not be prepared to participate in.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 11th

CHHS AUDITORIUM

4:30-5:30pm: ALL CHOIRS

5:30-6pm: Concert Women (Break for Choraliers and Chorale)

6-6:30pm: Choraliers (Break for Chorale)

6:30-7pm: Chorale

Please remember that this rehearsal is required for a grade for ALL CHOIRS

CHORALE REMINDER

Clinic with Dr. Christopher Aspaas - Friday, December 8th during 6th-7th Periods

Dr. Christopher Aspaas serves as Director of Choral Activities at Texas Christian University. At TCU, he conducts the Concert Chorale and teaches coursework in conducting and choral literature in addition to heading the Choral Division and leading the M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in Choral Conducting. Active as a guest conductor and clinician, Christopher has lead festivals in 31 States and conducted All-State Choruses in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Oregon, Virginia and Wisconsin as well as international events in Canada, South Korea and the Middle East. Also active as a tenor soloist, Christopher recently performed the role of Evangelist in Bach's St. John Passion.

WINTER CONCERT

WELCOME OUR TEMPORARY VOICE FACULTY

Welcome Amanda Hinders and Matthew Giallongo who are joining our voice faculty while Miranda Benham is away.

Amanda is a former high school choir director who left the classroom to be home with her children when she and her husband moved from Houston to Chicago. Amanda currently teaches private voice and does vocal coaching for some area schools. She attended Michigan State University and West Texas A&M University where she received a degree in Music Education with vocal emphasis. Amanda has a passion for musical theater and for performing, but her true love is teaching.

Matthew is presently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of North Texas. He has a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Gettysburg College. Matthew was an adjunct voice professor at Colorado State University and is presently teaching voice in the area.
