Panther Choir Newsletter 5/12/18
We had a wonderful evening celebrating the year's achievements last night at our annual choir banquet. We had a record 160 attendees with us for the event! A special thank you to Kathryn Phillips, our parent banquet coordinator, our student leadership team, and the many parent volunteers that served in various capacities to make this event special for our students. I cannot adequately express to you my gratitude for your organization of this event. In case you missed it, congratulation to the following students that received our Department Awards last night.

Student Leadership Elections
The quick turn around for leadership applications combined with the busy schedule of STAAR and AP testing has delayed our student leadership elections. This also caused some of our students who wanted to apply for leadership to not have the time or information needed to complete their applications. This being noted, I have changed the application deadline for leadership to next Friday, May 18 at 3pm. If you previously submitted an application and would like to make changes, please notify Mr. Rinn. If you would still like to apply, please submit an application. Some students who have not been part of our elections before were unsure what we were looking for in an election video. I have posted some examples of last years applications HERE to serve as examples for you. I will create a page like this for 2018-2019 Leadership Applications and post it next weekend for you to review. Elections will take place Monday-Tuesday, May 21-22.
Concert Video Orders
TMEA Video Update
I know many of you are anxiously awaiting the video from the TMEA Concert. This order has been very slow. I received the artwork proofs this week for the CD / DVD cover which tells me we are close on production. I also had a conversation with the company that indicated to me that some of the problem has been waiting on copyright clearance for Canta! as it was from a small publisher overseas and we've had trouble with the rights on this. I hope to have these in your hands shortly.
Spring Concert and Jazz Show
Both the Spring Concert and Jazz Show (Lancaster Performance) are available on DVD or Flash Drive.
If you would like to order a copy of the either of these performance, please VISIT THIS LINK. You may pay via PayPal or send a check to the school. If you previously ordered the Spring Concert Video they should be ready shortly.

WELCOME TO CMS - Mr. Charlie Lotspeich
After 29 years of leading the Colleyville Middle School Choir Program, Julie Moore is retiring at the end of this school year. We are grateful for her service and leadership. Her outstanding work and support of the CHHS Choir Porgram has been a foundation for not only the success of our program but for choral music in GCISD. Ms. Moore's final concert with CMS will be at Grapevine HS on Friday, May 18 at 7pm. We hope that many of the CMS alumni will join us for this event celebrating her career.
With Mrs. Moore's retirement, we are excited to begin a new chapter at CMS with the addition of Mr. Charlie Lotspeich (It is pronounced LOT SPEECH) to the GCISD Choral Staff. Mr. Lotspeich joins us from Coppell MS North.
Charlie Lotspeich graduated from the University of North Texas in 2010 with his bachelors in Music Education. He began his career in Dallas ISD teaching at Robert T. Hill middle school. After teaching there for 2 years he moved to Coppell ISD where he taught at Coppell Middle School North for six years. During his time at North, he has received consecutive superior ratings in UIL contests and choice music festivals. He is also a professional men’s barbershop singer, and currently performs in The Vocal Majority Chorus and Clutch Quartet. Clutch Quartet is currently ranked 10th in the international BHS contest. The Vocal Majority received the Silver medal in the 2017 international BHS contest. He is also an electric bass player, and he currently performs in the Elevate band at FUMC in Coppell.
