Panther Choir Summer Newsletter
We hope that you have been enjoying a fun and relaxing summer vacation. While you've been away we've been busy preparing for the new school year and are very excited about the many opportunities of the year. Please see the information below for some August activities and information you may need as we head back to school.
Summer Region Audition Preparation Workshop
We will again combine with the directors and students at Grapevine High School to do some preparation for our Fall Region and All-State Auditions. This summer's workshop is scheduled for August 6-7 at Grapevine HS from 5-8pm each evening. We offer this FREE to our GCISD students. Our focus will be on preparing the first two auditions of the school year. Panther Chorale members, please remember that you are required to learn this music as part of your grade during the first 9-weeks. This process (and workshop) is open to every student in our program regardless of grade or choir and we encourage you to come engage in learning some challenging music - it will only make you better! So that we can adequately prepare, please signup via THIS LINK. I will send out reminders again next week.
I have received a few notes in the last week that class schedules were electronically released and that there are quite a few errors. I was surprised to hear that these were released this early as the counselors are currently not on campus (still on summer vacation). Please do not panic! I will return to campus in August and will go through all of the rosters and help get your schedules repaired before school begins.
There is no better way to advance your individual music skills than by studying your instrument with a professional instructor. If you are interested in studying next year please fill out a voice lesson enrollment form (even if you have taken before I need a new form). The earlier I receive this form the more options you will have when scheduling your lessons. If you want to start a week or so before school starts this may be available to you as well. If you need financial assistance to support your private study, please also complete the financial assistance request form. We want every student interested in studying their instrument to have that opportunity, but funds are limited and applications are processed as we receive them.
We do have one change in our voice faculty this year. Mr. Wilkerson will not be returning, however, we have added Dr. Allison Anders to our staff who is going to be terrific. If you were previously taking form Mr. Wilkerson please consider which teacher might be a good fit for you moving forward so we can get you scheduled. You can read all about Dr. Anders and the rest of our wonderful voice staff via our STAFF page.
