Panther Choir Newsletter 04/12/2019
What a week! We had a wonderful successes with all of our performing choirs at UIL this week, and are so proud to share the stage with such excellent students and fine musicians. Thank you parents for all of your work to help us make this week a success by having students up early and ready to perform! We hope you all take some time to relax and refresh this week as we prepare for the final weeks of the school year. Please take a few moments to look over the upcoming events and information!
- Festival Di Voce -
Tuesday, April 23 | Dallas Baptist University
On Tuesday, all varsity level ensembles will be competing in the DBU Festival Di Voce. This is a wonderful opportunity to sing in a beautiful space and hear other wonderful choirs from around Texas. Please see the schedule below

- SING! Jazz Show -
Ya like jazz? Tickets for our annual Jazz show SING! will be available for purchase online starting at 9am on Friday, April 12. Tickets for our popular Dinner show at the Lancaster Theatre typically sell out quickly. Please plan to reserve your tickets early to guarantee the best available seating. Tickets are $30 and include a full catered meal of Salad, Roasted Chicken Breast, Roasted Red Potatoes, Vegetable Medley, Bread, and dessert. - Senior Picture Collection -
May 1st deadline
Senior choir members, we are in need of a current, high quality senior portrait of you so that we may honor you both in our final concert program and at our choir banquet. Please make sure that the portrait is a high resolution that will allow for physical print. The deadline for these photos is May 1st. You may upload your photo to the Google drive folder below. Please label your photo as "last name, first name".
- Bluebonnet Festival & San Antonio Trip -

If you were unable to attend, please be on the lookout for the email with all forms and some of the necessary information from the evening. As our trip is quickly approaching, please feel free to reach out with any questions! All necessary forms for this trip are linked below. Please ensure that these forms are returned (as applicable to your student) prior to the trip departure.

- Varsity UIL Rehearsals -
Please note that varsity rehearsals for UIL are underway. Rehearsals are graded and must be made up if missed due to an excused absence. Please plan accordingly as our time together in these rehearsals is limited. All rehearsals will begin at 4:15 and will be an hour and a half (end at 5:45) unless otherwise noted below. Complete information regarding these rehearsals can be found HERE. We will publish detailed contest schedules later this week as we received the preliminary contest schedule on Friday and it should be finalized shortly.

- CHHS Choir Banquet -
May 10, 2019 | 6:30 pm | Colleyville Center
Join us for our 2019 Choir Banquet on May 10th at the Colleyville Center. Dinner will be provided by Babe's Chicken Dinner House. We will have vegetarian options available as well; please indicate in your reservation if you need/prefer the vegetarian option. Our theme this year is Masquerade and while encouraged, masks are optional. Parents are welcome to attend, and we would love to see all of our students this evening! Ticket sales will open Tuesday, April 25th at 6 pm and will close on May 4th due to catering requirements. Please note, in order to attend the banquet, all outstanding choir fees must be paid.
- Auditions for 2019-2020 Panther Choirs -
We will soon begin listening to students and placing them in choirs for the 2019-2020 school year. This is always a challenge with the way GCISD does arena scheduling. It is very likely that when it is time for scheduling to happen you will not be able to select the appropriate choir for next year. Please know that we will work closely with the counselors and work out schedules (even beyond the arena scheduling deadlines). We do not yet even know which choirs we will offer at CHHS next year. While we aren't expecting any major changes, we just don't know until we see an approved bell schedule and a list of choir participants. As you think about next year, for scheduling purposes you can expect the following typical progression for students in our program. While there are always exceptions to this progression this is a good guide for most students. Choir at CHHS is a four year process. Each level and choir offers specific learning opportunities for each student and we strive to give a comprehensive musical education to our students by varying the activities they engage in each year. Please direct any questions to Mr. Rinn.

Choraliers (Advanced, Auditioned 9th Graders with previous experience)
Concert Choir (currently Men and Women separate but could be mixed depending on the year)

- Summer Music Camps -
For many of our students the preparations for the new school year begins with one of the many camps offered by Universities in the summer. This is a unique opportunity for students to build musicianship, experience a collegiate music school and get a head start on region and all-state audition music. Please see the list below to explore opportunities and get registered. Please email Mr. Rinn if you'd like to attend the University of Texas at Austin camp as I have a unique discount code for our students.
- CHHS Booster Club -
CHHS Choir parents, our booster team needs you! We have a wonderful team of parents who support us and allow us to create many of the wonderful opportunities we offer to our students each year.
