Panther Choir Newsletter | 01.10.20

Happy New Year CHHS Choir Parents and Students! We hope your holidays were filled with joy, rest, and laughter, and that your first week back to school was a wonderful one. We enjoyed seeing our students and having an opportunity to begin working towards all of the wonderful things we have ahead this semester! While we have a bit of a slow start into major events, we have much to plan ahead for, and we would ask that you help us by reading this week's newsletter and starting to think towards some of our fundraisers, concerts, and events that you can be a part of. Have an excellent weekend!

- TMEA Area Auditions -

Saturday, January 11 | 7:30 am | UTA Music Campus

This Saturday, six of our choir members will be auditioning for the final round of the TMEA All-State choir process. Students will be competing for limited spaces in the All-State Mixed, Treble, and Tenor/Bass ensembles. These singers have worked incredibly since the beginning of June and are honored by being in this final round. Wish these students luck and congratulate them on all of the hard work. Students auditioning can find necessary information for these auditions via email from Mr. Rinn earlier today.

- Varsity Men's Choir in Louisiana -

January 29 - 30, 2020 | Overnight | University of Louisiana Monroe

Our men's choir was invited to be a part of the University of Louisiana in Monroe's tenor/bass choir festival this January 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity to support growing music programs in the Louisiana system and to interact and rehearse with some of our nation's top Collegiate Music Educators. Full information and specific details of this event will be made available shortly. All Concert and Varsity Tenor/Bass singers: you will have a brief rehearsal on the afternoon of January 27 from 4:15 - 5:30 in preparation for this event. This rehearsal is mandatory for participation in this event.

- CHHS Classical Vocal Competition -

February 27 | 4:30 - 8:00 pm | CHHS Choir Rooms

This semester, all students will have the opportunity to perform and compete in the CHHS Vocal Competition. Any student interested in the CHHS Classical Vocal Competition should register and return the fee to the directors by Friday, January 21 to compete. Students participating in voice lessons will make arrangements for accompanists through their voice instructors. Students not in voice lessons need to return a $30 registration fee to the choir office by Friday, January 21 to cover accompanists and contest fees. Finances should not be a barrier to participation in this event, and we will work to make financial aid available to any student who may need it to be a part of this contest! We hope all of our singers take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
