Panther Choir Newsletter | 01.31.20

Happy Friday CHHS Choir Parents and Students! Thank you for your support these last several weeks with Mary Poppins, our Men's Choir Louisiana trip, and so many other things that have started the new year. We are a full month into the new decade and already seeing incredible progress in our students, choirs, and program as a whole. Please take a moment to read through this week's newsletter and help us celebrate achievements, plan for upcoming events, and continue making this the best program we can for our singers!

- CHHS All-State Singers -

Help us congratulate our fabulous students who participated in the TMEA Area B audition for the All-State choir. We had incredible success and saw incredible progress in all the individuals who started from the beginning. William Swinney and Nathaniel Nguyen were selected into one of the All-State Choirs this year, and will have the opportunity to work and perform with the top singers and musicians in the state!

- CHHS Classical Vocal Competition -

February 27 | 4:30 - 8:00 pm | CHHS Choir Rooms

This semester, all students will have the opportunity to perform and compete in the CHHS Vocal Competition. Any student interested in the CHHS Classical Vocal Competition should register and return the fee to the directors by Friday, Monday, February 10 to compete. Students participating in voice lessons will make arrangements for accompanists through their voice instructors. Students not in voice lessons need to return a $30 registration fee to the choir office by Monday, February 10 to cover accompanists and contest fees. Finances should not be a barrier to participation in this event, and we will work to make financial aid available to any student who may need it to be a part of this contest! We hope all of our singers take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

- UIL Rehearsal Schedules -

The UIL Concert & Sight-Reading is the state assessment of our choral program. It provides us a chance to receive feedback on our progress and a goal to push for in the development of our students achievement. Participation in UIL is part of the choral curriculum at CHHS and we provide opportunities for every student in choir to benefit from this process. We will be creating several opportunities that we have not had in the past with several of our singers, and we are excited to share these with you. Because of the nature of this assessment and the opportunities we are able to create, it is necessary to hold additional rehearsals for several of the ensembles each year. We have begun communicating with students in their classes, but wanted to ensure that these dates were in your hands promptly. Rehearsals will begin following the Spring break, but please help us by getting these dates secured on your calendars now! See below for the necessary information for each of the following ensembles.
