- Volunteers Needed -
On March 2 and 3 we will be hosting the Region 31 Middle School UIL Contest at CHHS. We have a need for both parent and student volunteers to support us over these two days of contest. In addition to these two days of contest, we will need several volunteers to help us on the afternoon of Sunday, March 1 so that we can be prepared for the early start on Monday morning. If you are willing to help in any of these capacities, please take a moment to sign up in the forms below. We will contact you prior to the contest with specific instructions for the contest days. Thank you for your willingness to support GCISD choir programs in this way!
- CHHS Classical Vocal Competition Results -
Thank you to all of our students for their efforts and work to perform at the CHHS Classical Vocal Competition on Thursday evening. We are proud of the excellence these students represented in themselves and as a part of our choral program. In this competition, 14 students were selected as Outstanding Performers to move forward into our Finals Vocal Recital on April 20th. These students will perform for a collegiate vocal instructor for scholarship prizes supported by the CHHS Panther Choir Booster Club. Congratulate these singers on their hard work and outstanding performances!
- TMEA Choir Camps & Scholarship Deadline -
Each year, state and private universities host Choir Camps to help students maximize their vocal growth and prepare for the Fall Region Choir and All-State Audition processes. Hosted by university choral departments around the state, these choir camps are the best way to get a head start on all of the audition music with quality instructors and educators. Many of our students take advantage of these camps each year, and to help support these opportunities, our Booster club offers $100 scholarships to interested students. As many of the registrations for these camps sell out within a few days, you will need to complete the scholarship application by Friday, February 28th to prepare for the March 1st registration openings! Please read the Information Letter to find out more about the wonderful opportunity available through these choir camps, and fill out the scholarship at the link below if you are interested! We will share a list of available camps, dates, expenses, etc. as soon as we are able!
- UIL Rehearsal Schedules -
The UIL Concert & Sight-Reading is the state assessment of our choral program. It provides us a chance to receive feedback on our progress and a goal to push for in the development of our students achievement. Participation in UIL is part of the choral curriculum at CHHS and we provide opportunities for every student in choir to benefit from this process. We will be creating several opportunities that we have not had in the past with several of our singers, and we are excited to share these with you. Because of the nature of this assessment and the opportunities we are able to create, it is necessary to hold additional rehearsals for several of the ensembles each year. We have begun communicating with students in their classes, but wanted to ensure that these dates were in your hands promptly. Rehearsals will begin following the Spring break, but please help us by getting these dates secured on your calendars now! See below for the necessary information for each of the following ensembles.
