Panther Choir Newsletter 1/22
We hope that everyone is settling back into the swing of things as we move into the spring semester. We have a lot of exciting events to look forward to as well as some changes to some dates. Please take the time to view these on our Google Calendar along with more information below regarding these upcoming events. Click HERE for a link to our Major Events Calendar, too.
We want to take a moment to congratulate two of our own who advanced all the way to area auditions and placed in the Texas All-State Choirs. Matti Beezley placed 6th chair overall and 2nd chair in the Treble Choir. Jessie Olsen placed 2nd chair overall which means she will be 2nd chair in the Mixed Choir. We are beyond proud of these two and the work that they put into this process. We know that the circumstances of this process were anything but normal this year, but we are so excited that you have achieved such a high honor and we hope that you will continue to celebrate your success. Congratulations, again, you two!
- Changes to GCISD Remote Learner Policies -
GCISD has recently modified district policy to allow remote learners to attend fine arts performance classes to prepare for spring performances and competitions while still attending their remaining courses remotely. We are currently developing procedures to safely allow our remote students into choir classes and will communicate early next week. We anticipate being able to allow them on campus by the end of next week.
- CHHS Solo and Ensemble Festival -
On February 23rd we will be hosting our annual Solo and Ensemble Festival after school here on campus. There will be two collegiate level judges who will not only give feedback and score their performances, but who will also spend time working individually with our singers. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to work with a real professional in the vocal field. There will be scholarship opportunities for those who compete and place in the finalist category. We hope that you will help us encourage your students to participate in this beneficial and worthwhile experience.
- Pop Show -
We are excited to announce that we will be performing our very first Pop Show here at CHHS. There will of course be more information to come, but for now here are some details about our plans for the show. We will be following the same Covid safety protocol that we did for our Winter Concert last semester. There will be three different performances at CHHS in order to accomodate more audience members. Those dates are March 3rd, 4th, and 5th. (We will be sending out the same form we did to inquire about our singers' plans to participate for the upcoming performances this semester.) Below is a link for our students who are interested in singing a solo or performing as a small group at one of the shows. We would love for a lot of our kids to have this performance opportunity.
