Panther Choir Newsletter 10/23
This past week was our Sing-Out performance at the Palace Theatre. Our jazz choirs performed along with numerous solo acts. Everyone did such an amazing job and we are proud of all of you. Thank you to all of the friends and family that came out to support our singers and be a part of our first public performance. Your support is appreciated and I know that all of our performers loved being able to perform for you.
- Choir Forms -
Thank you for your patience as we determined what forms and fees are needed for this year and our process for collecting them during hybrid learning. The CHHS Choir fee will remain at $55 for this school year. The choir fee helps to cover the cost of supplies such as our online learning packets, uniform pieces, and other activities of the program. Please note, that the district will not be collecting the Extra-Curricular Pay-to-Play fees that have traditionally been collected in Skyward. Please see the Registration Form below which will allow you to pay choir fees, upload and/or complete the required district forms, and purchase optional Booster memberships and choir merchandise.
*All forms are now past due*
- All-State -
We want to congratulate the following students for advancing to the next round of the All-State process:
Rachel Van Buskirk
We are proud of everyone who chose to be a part of this process and we are so excited to see how far you all will go in the process.
Below is a schedule for All-State rehearsals for the next few weeks:
- Updates for December -
As we continue to navigate this unprecedented school year and continue to receive guidance concerning how to safely engage students in choir performances, we would like to share with you our plans to prepare students for December performances.
- Winter Concert -
All students in the choir program, regardless of in-person or remote status, are invited to perform in our December concerts which will be moved to Monday, December 14. This performance will serve as the major performance assessment for the 9-week grading period as is customary for our performances. Students choosing to not participate in the concert because of safety concerns relating to COVID will be given an alternate performance assessment for the 9-week grade.
In order to maintain the safety of our students and parents, we will divide this year’s concert into two performances. Seating will be assigned using seat buffering to limit the audience and provide social distancing in the audience. Current regulations will require that all concert attendees wear a mask. We will use the same procedures we use for daily rehearsals including spraying surface disinfectant before and between the two concerts and running multiple HEPA filters to circulate the air.
At this point, regulations will require that students wear masks for the performance when in an ensemble setting. The length of performance will be limited.
Concert Tenor-Bass / Choraliers / Jazz Choirs
Chorale/ Concert Treble / Jazz Choirs
Each ensemble will have two after-school rehearsals preceding the concert in order to allow our remote and in-person learners to work briefly together for the performance. While we know that the situation could change as we approach December, we ask that each family complete THIS FORM to indicate their current intentions for December so that we can plan appropriately for the success of the students.
