Panther Choir Newsletter 12/4
We have had a very busy week as we celebrated Homecoming, welcomed our online learners to campus for the first time, and continue to prepare for our Winter Concert on Dec. 14. As with all things this year, the Winter Concert will look very different. All visitors must have a ticket to attend the concert. All guests on GCISD campuses are required to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose at all times. Specific details and links to tickets are included in the information below. TICKETS CAN BE RESERVED STARTING AT 8 AM ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7th. This concert is typically well-attended, so we encourage you to reserve your seats as soon as possible.
- Winter Concert (Monday, Dec. 14) -
As we prepare for our upcoming winter performance please be aware of everything listed below and make sure that you and your family understand what the expectations are for your student if they are performing and for you if you plan on attending.
Please reserve your seats here starting Monday, December 7 starting at 8 am (be aware that the tickets are free and that we are simply needing you and your family to reserve your seats for contact tracing purposes and for maintaining proper distancing protocol).
In order to maintain the safety of our students and parents, we will divide this year’s concert into two performances. Seating will be assigned using seat buffering to limit the audience and provide social distancing in the audience. Current regulations will require that all concert attendees wear a mask covering the nose and mouth. We will use the same procedures we use for daily rehearsals including spraying surface disinfectant before and between the two concerts and running multiple HEPA filters to circulate the air.
At this point, regulations will require that students wear masks for the performance when in an ensemble setting. The length of performance will be limited.
Please make sure that you know what concert your students is performing in and what time that specific concert begins.
Concert Tenor-Bass / Choraliers / Jazz Choirs / Solos*
First Concert Soloists:
*There will be a 30 minute break between concerts to let the space air out and to run our HEPA filters. You will need to leave the space as soon as the concert ends.*
Chorale/ Concert Treble / Jazz Choirs / Solos*
Second Concert Soloists:
Each ensemble will have ONE MORE after-school rehearsal preceding the concert in order to allow our remote and in-person learners to work briefly together for the performance. All rehearsal dates and times are listed below. A gentle reminder that while we do understand that our singers are all involved in many other extra-curricular activities we do expect our singers to be at rehearsals and if not, the students need to communicate with us ahead of time. We also know that things come up last minute, but if you are an online student and you do not come to at least one of the rehearsals you will not be asked to perform at the concert. You will then be asked to complete the alternative assignment for your performance grade.
