Panther Choir Newsletter 4/10
We hope that you all are doing well as we enter into our last six weeks of school. We know that there is a lot happening in the next couple of weeks with choir, so please make sure to check out our major events calendar and the list of upcoming dates at the bottom of this newsletter. Our jazz choirs are gearing up to perform in just two short weeks. They are excited to present what they have been working on this semester and we hope that you will be able to join us for one of our two shows (dates listed below). We are also recording for UIL this week, so if that applies to your student, please make sure they take the time to read below about that process and the expectations.
- UIL Recordings -
This year, UIL looks a bit different than previous years. We will be recording for UIL during school, in class. Our Choraliers ensemble and Panther Chorale have been working on music all semester for this reason. On Wednesday, April 14, we will record Chorale during third period and we will then field trip our Choraliers singers for fourth period that day to record our concert and sight reading portions of UIL. Your singers will need to wear blue jeans and their red choir shirt for this because the students will be video recorded. Our students know whether this applies to them or not and whether they will be involved in the recording process. Some of our online learners have chosen to be involved and others have not. Those that are choosing to not participate will be given an alternative assignment in order to make up for that performance grade. We hope that you will communicate this with your students and we will be reminding them both Monday and Tuesday in preparation.
- Senior Scholarships -
Our application for 2021 senior scholarships has been open now for a week. We urge any seniors wanting to apply to do so here. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 30. You will find all criteria and information for applying on the form linked above.
- Sing! 2021 Jazz Show -
Our jazz show this year will also be a little different than past years. Our show will be held at the school on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 both at 7 pm. The event is ticketed at $5 a ticket for general admission and $40 for one of our new, exclusive stage-tables. This is a new concept that gives you the opportunity to sit right on the stage with our singers as they serenade you all night. These tables will seat two guests and will be distanced (as will general admission) following CDC and GCISD performance guidelines. Masks will be required for all attendees. Above is this year's Jazz Show poster and on it you can find a QR code that will take you directly to our ticketing system. Tickets will start being sold on Monday, April 12 at 4 pm. Please make sure to reserve your seats for the show sooner rather than later. The shows will be identical both nights. We hope that you can attend! In case the QR code does not work for you, here is the link to purchase tickets once they go on sale:
